Care Instructions

Every piece of Victoria Buckley Jewellery is unique and requires special care to keep it looking it's best. Below are some care guidelines to help you keep your jewellery sparkling:

Protect your jewels
When you are not wearing it the best place to keep your jewellery is in the box you purchased it in. This will protect the jewellery from being scratched, and from scratching other pieces. Remove your jewels when swimming and gardening so you don't lose them or damage them on rough surfaces.

Wipe them clean
To keep your pearls and gemstones looking their best, when you are finished wearing them wipe them with a soft cloth before putting them away.

No harsh chemicals
Salt water and harsh chemicals such as chlorine bleach or detergents can damage your precious jewellery. The chemicals erode the finish and polish of the gems leaving them dull. Hairspray, perfume and perspiration can also cause dullness if not regularly cleaned off, and it's best not to shower in your jewellery.

Check the stringing
Before putting on your pearl or gemstone necklace, check the stringing is secure. Please keep in mind it is ideal to restring your necklaces annually. Victoria Buckley Jewellery guarantees stringing of all necklaces for one year from purchase.

Secure settings
Settings should be checked by a jeweller once a year. Although we take great care when setting a stone, constant wear can cause damage to settings particularly claw setting which can wear down over time or be caught on material causing them to bend.

Blackened details
The blackening on our jewellery is permanent, but as it is a surface finish it may alter over time.

White gold
To maintain it's bright white appearance your rhodium plated white gold jewellery may need to be replated once every year or two.

Polish your silver
As with most precious metals, in time silver will oxidize. Properly maintained silver actually improves with age and it develops a good patina when treated well. Occassionally wiping your silver pieces with a silver polishing cloth will keep them bright and shiny.

Butterflies
If butterflies on stud earrings begin to feel loose bring them back into the store and we will tighten them for you at no cost. All the butterflies we use on our jewellery are of heavy weight, and are fairly tight, but over time the metal can loosen.
